Tor: a free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis
Tor browser is what you need if you want to use Tor on your Android phone
Onion Browser: Onion Browser is the original open-source Tor-powered browser for iOS. Onion Browser helps you bypass censorship and access the internet with more safety and privacy.
OpenVPN for Windows, Android and IOS: create an Internet encrypted tunnel between your computer and a VPN server. Data sent by VPN users will be illegible to any third party in the event of malicious interception such as espionage or intrusion.

Signal: Signal is the most scalable encryption tool around. It is free and peer reviewed.
Jitsi: an audio/video Internet phone and instant messenger written in Java. It supports some of the most popular instant messaging and telephony protocols such as SIP, Jabber/XMPP (and hence Facebook and Google Talk), AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! Messenger. It comes bundled with many security features including Encrypted Instant Messaging with Off-the-Record Messaging (OTRv4)
Pidgin: Pidgin is an easy to use and free chat client used by millions. The OTR plugin allows you to have an encrypted conversation within mainstream services such as Yahoo, Facebook, Google talk and more.
Adium: Adium is a free instant messaging application for Mac OS X that can connect to AIM, MSN, XMPP (Jabber), Yahoo, and more. It comes bundled with the OTR plugin.
K9 Mail: K-9 Mail is an open source email client with support for multiple accounts, search, IMAP push email, multi-folder sync, flagging, filing, signatures, BCC-self, PGP/MIME & more!
iPGMail: iPGMail is an app that implements the OpenPGP standard (RFC 4880, RFC 6637) and allows the user to create and manage both public and private (RSA, DSA, ECDSA) PGP keys and send and receive PGP encrypted messages.

Veracrypt: VeraCrypt is a free open source disk encryption software
Eraser: a secure data removal tool for Windows. It completely removes sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns.
Exif viewer: a firefox plugin that displays the Exif and IPTC data in local and remote JPEG images
